Help us buy 'Natives' for secondary school children

Updated: Aug 3, 2020

With all that's been going on, 2020 is certainly the year of reflection and change; the year many realise how uncomfortable and how resilient they are to such phenomenon, and the year we truly see the kindness within human nature.

There are lots of amazing people out there on the front lines and behind the scenes doing lots of wonderful, exciting work, keep going! we really need people like you if we are to change the world. Everyone has a part to play in making sure we never repeat the mistakes of yesteryear, no matter how large the contribution it all begins with a look inside ourselves.

I would like to take this moment to introduce one of those people fighting for change. This young lady has partnered with a friend; a teacher at their local secondary school to try and raise £900 towards books for an entire year of students. After thinking about it for years; they like so many others have decided its finally time to change the narrative.

This book will allow students to find the power knowledge has to offer giving them a great reference point for understanding the difficulties we have faced as a Nation for all too long, putting into perspective issues and solutions to many of our societal ills.

Akala's 'Natives - Race & class in the ruins of empire' is absolutely extraordinary and an absolute must read, offering readers an incisive look at how we all fit into the narrative.

If you are unable or unwilling to make a monetary donation then I recommend you buy the book for yourself, you will not regret it! and if possible donate it to the cause after it has been read.
